About our school

Jugiong Public School is located on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people, bordering Ngunnawal. It is a small, rural school that provides a quality education for students drawn predominantly from the rural areas surrounding the village. The school has two multi-stage classes, K-2 and 3-6.

Jugiong Public School is proud of meeting the educational needs of the local community. Educating and preparing young people to strive in a world that is rapidly changing requires a school community that works together to nurture and develop essential skills, knowledge and competencies for each child’s active participation in today’s world.

We actively participate in a number of programs and initiatives that add to the educational experiences of our students. We have a history of outstanding achievements in sport and provide a range of opportunities in the arts, environmental education, technology, excursions, student leadership, special days and community events. We have a strong partnership with the Young Regional School of Music providing group and individual tuition. We have also recently developed a school choir and band. These represent the richness of school life.

We continue to deliver quality teaching as the most important factor that makes a difference for our students. The teachers at Jugiong Public School are passionate and dedicated in meeting the needs of every student in every classroom. They work tirelessly to provide exciting, challenging and innovative learning experiences. Our teaching practice is evidence based and ensures that all students are challenged to achieve their learning goals.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) principles are embedded across our school with the school values of respect, responsibility and resilience strengthening our school culture. Our school community embraces individual differences and celebrates diversity.

We continue to upgrade our digital learning tools. Online learning subscriptions have ensured that learning is matching individual needs and supports a continuation between school and home. This growth in 21st century technologies ensures that we prepare students for the future and engage them in learning. The use of StemShare kits from the Department of Education has given our staff and students many unique opportunities to learn with innovative 3D printing and virtual reality technology.

Jugiong Public School is a school where students, staff and parents work together to maximise learning opportunities for all students. Our school has a strong and caring parent community who actively support us in all our endeavours.

It nestles in the valley, not far from my home.

A small and scattered village, where Ben Hall used to roam.

The hills rise steeply around it, the river flows slowly by.

It's on the Hume Highway, twenty miles from Gundagai.

The scenery all around it, and for many miles beyond.

It's something to remember if you come to Jugiong.
